Slack notifications
Each monitor can post its alert and recovery messages to a Slack channel through a Slack incoming webhook. Slack alerts are included in the Pro and Team plans.
Set up
- In Slack, create an incoming webhook for the channel that should receive alerts. Slack gives you a URL that starts with
https://hooks.slack.com/services/. - Open the monitor in the dashboard, go to its alert configuration, and paste the URL into Slack incoming webhook.
- Use Test Configuration to post a test message. The attempt is recorded under Recent deliveries with the HTTP status Slack returned.
- Save the alert configuration.
URL rules and storage
- Only
https://hooks.slack.com/URLs are accepted. Any other host is rejected when you save or test. - The URL is stored encrypted and is never shown again. To change it, enter a new URL; to stop Slack delivery, use Remove Slack and save.
- Slack receives the alert message when alerts are enabled, and the recovery message when Recovery Notifications is also on. Unlike the generic webhook, there are no per-event triggers.
- If the monitor has an escalation policy attached, the policy's steps deliver the alert instead and Slack receives only the recovery message.
- Do not paste a Slack URL into the generic Webhook URL field: that channel sends the GetPulseCheck JSON payload with a signature header, which Slack does not render.
What the message contains
An alert message includes the monitor name, target, check type, failure reason, status code, response time, confirming regions, failure streak, confidence, and an incident link. A recovery message identifies the monitor, outage duration, resolution details, and affected regions.
